Salary: $54,697.50 – $92,878.50 Annually

The PWCDFR Fire Marshal’s office is responsible for fire prevention in new and existing construction and is seeking an Engineer II with experience in fire protection systems plan review. The Fire Protection Engineer will work to ensure that fire protection systems are designed and installed in accordance with the Virginia state mandated code requirements.

Special Requirements:
Must become certified by Virginia as an E.I.T. (Engineer-In-Training) within 1 year of employment;
Must possess a valid driver’s license;
Must pass DMV Record Check.

Preferences:
Possession of Virginia 3C (Fire Protection Plan Review) and Virginia 3B (Fire Protection General) certification.

NICET Level III or Level IV certification for fire sprinkler systems or fire alarm systems.
Experience reviewing fire protection system designs and fire protection system installations.
Experience using applicable NFPA Standards and Building Codes to determine plan compliance.
