Engineer - Journey
 

The mission of Facilities Engineering & Architectural Services is to plan, coordinate, and construct projects to meet all physical needs of the university. Primary responsibilities of this position include utility programming/planning, NEC interpretation, electrical design coordination and review, design and project management, and construction management.

Programming/planning involves the evaluation of strategic utility plans and/or systems for the University. Design and project management includes the development of schedules and budgets for each facilities project; selection and coordination of architect and engineer consultants or in-house designers; review of all design/plans; coordination among facility support units and users; and coordination of reviews through related state agencies such as the NC Office of State Construction. Construction management involves the administration of capital projects under construction involving contract administration, site visits, status meetings, schedule compliance, and inspections. Responsibilities also include management of all phases of assigned projects.

Candidates should possess extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and theories of engineering and construction including building codes, including NEC, and the ability to design, read, and interpret plans and technically review the work of others. The ability to reliably estimate costs and monitor and manage construction projects is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in the engineering discipline related to the area of assignment, or equivalent combination of training and experience, is required. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

This position, vacancy #903748, is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan, salary range from $43,030 – $77,123. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant’s competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
