Planner II

Fauquier County is currently seeking a Planner II, with a diverse skill set and able to perform a variety of responsible professional planning duties related to the County’s current planning activities and long range planning initiatives. This position within the Planning Division of the Department of Community Development located in Warrenton, Virginia, will undertake a variety of professional planning work including reviewing land development applications and presenting them to the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals; assisting in the development of comprehensive plans and small area plans; analyzing demographic and environmental information; and providing technical assistance. Other responsibilities include providing information and assistance to developers, the general public, and outside agencies related to planning and zoning policies and ordinances.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a closely related field with a minimum of 3 years professional experience in both current and long range planning and GIS analysis, or equivalent. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, manage several projects concurrently, have knowledge of the principles and practices of both rural and urban planning, and have strong communication and writing skills.

Hiring range is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
