Security Engineer
 

James Madison University is accepting applications for a Security Engineer. Primary duties include monitoring, investigating, and responding to threats, vulnerabilities and security anomalies according to procedures; in-depth investigation of system logs; hands-on assessment of system status – both servers and endpoints; network traffic analysis; and high levels of customer and management interaction to validate and resolve reports. The Security Engineer will also handle support requests for security services such as access controls, authentication systems, encryption, sensitive data detection, system monitoring and vulnerability scanning. Ideal candidate will have extensive experience in enterprise security incident response along with deep understanding of attack methods, system vulnerabilities and defense mechanisms. All candidates must have an in-depth understanding of enterprise architectures and operations – both servers and endpoints, web architecture and operation, network protocols, and extensive experience investigating complex operational issues, some of which must be security related, in an enterprise, cross-platform environment. Exemplary customer service and written and oral communication skills are necessary. Maximum starting salary is $60,000, based on experience.
