1st World Congress On ICME Established
October 1, 2010

A panel of materials scientists and engineers from 14 countries has aligned to establish the 1st World Congress on Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) and collaboratively unlock the potential for materials process and design.

Sponsored by the ICME Committee of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), and currently co-sponsored by The Metallurgical Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (MetSoc), The Brazilian Metallurgy, Materials and Minerals Society (ABM), Materials Australia and the Japan Institute of Metals (JIM), the conference will convene July 10th-14th, 2011 in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania.

There is a growing global awareness of this methodology, also known as Through-Process Modeling. Over the past decade there has been a significant increase in focused computational activities within materials research and engineering programs around the world; these efforts are diverse, encompass a wide range of length and temporal scales, and are increasingly integrated with experimental studies for model verification and enhancement. Integrated multiscale modeling is also an important element of ICME.
