February 11, 2020

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) has announced the publication of 2020 editions of AHRI Standards 920 (I-P) and 921 (SI), Performance Rating of Direct Expansion-Dedicated Outdoor Air System Units, which include updates to allow for more reliable testing of units with and without energy recovery devices. Other changes include an updated method of test, updated lab diagrams, additional product types, updated ISMRE and ISCOP ratings, new standard rating conditions, and optional simulation methods for testing equipment, among other extensive changes.

The new AHRI Guideline M-2020, Unique Fittings and Service Ports for Flammable Refrigerant Use, provides recommendations of good practice for the design and application of unique fittings for all refrigerant handling containers and service ports for air conditioning and commercial refrigeration equipment. This guideline applies to all service ports for use with Class A2L, B2L, A2, and A3 refrigerants per the classifications outlined in ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 34.

The updated AHRI standards and new guideline are available for free download from the AHRI website.
