AHRI Announces Final Webinar In Refrigerant Series
October 15, 2020

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) has announced a new series of five webinars will be presented on various aspects of flammable refrigerant research. The webinars are scheduled to be held each Wednesday between September 23rd and October 21st. To date, the research has informed technical updates to safety standards that will enable compliance with global regulations that phase down the use of high-global warming potential refrigerants.

This virtual forum will build on material covered in the Flammable Refrigerant Research and Planning Conference held in October 2018, which examined research performed in collaboration with Department of Energy, California Air Resources Board, ASHRAE, AHRI, and others.

Manufacturers, channel partners, policy makers, fire service personnel, and building code and environmental experts are encouraged to participate. The free sessions will feature panel discussions and presentations from industry experts, including principal investigators on flammable refrigerant research projects.

The fifth in the series, Refrigerant Ignition in Open Flame/Hot Surfaces: Has Anything Fundamentally Changed?, will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

This session will report the results and ongoing effort to understand the implications of exposing fluorinated refrigerants to fire or hot surfaces, and compare legacy refrigerants and low-GWP refrigerants relative to heat and gases generated in these events.

Registration for the fifth webinar is now available.
