The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI), the trade association representing manufacturers of HVACR and water heating equipment within the global industry, has announced the presentation of a free webinar, A2L Refrigerant Behavior in a Structure Fire, to be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. EST. Experts will discuss preliminary findings from AHRTI Project 8028, specifically designed to show how low-global warming potential refrigerants classified as “A2L” or “lower flammability” may behave in a structure fire. The project will be used to develop a training program to educate fire and emergency professionals on the appropriate tactics for dealing with A2L refrigerants in a home or building. Panelists include George Hunter, UL; Chief Bill Offerman of the Elwood, Illinois Fire Protection District; Dick Lord, Carrier Corporation; and Helen Walter-Terrinoni, AHRI.
