Applied Felts To Expand Operations
April 25, 2011

Applied Felts, an independent manufacturer of felt liners for the cured-in-place pipe industry, has announced plans for a $6 million expansion of its current operation in Martinsville, Va. The new addition will be a 30,000-square-foot expansion of the firm’s existing 84,000-square-foot building in the Bowles Industrial Park.

According to Mark Heath, president and CEO of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corp., the construction project is expected to be put out for bids within the next two weeks, and work will be completed in three to four months.

The company will receive $175,000 from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission. Applied Felts also qualifies for state enterprise zone benefits and recruitment/training support through the Virginia Job Investment Program, according to Mary Rae Carter, deputy secretary of commerce and trade for rural economic development.
