ARI Announces HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop
March 20, 2007

The HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop will be held March 28-30, 2007 at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne, Va. Building upon the success of the 2006 workshop, nine organizations across the HVACR and plumbing industry spectrum are joining forces once again to provide an educationally packed learning experience for plumbing and HVACR instructors and other industry professionals across the country.

The workshop is developed with input from a strong cadre of instructors and industry professionals. It is an excellent opportunity for HVACR and plumbing program instructors, along with other industry professionals, to learn about the latest industry issues and instructional techniques. The workshop also offers instructors extensive networking opportunities and access to industry experts.

Plumbing and HVACR instructors have been instrumental in identifying topics and speakers they believe would benefit their professional development. The educational session lineup for 2007 includes topics such as:

1 Troubleshooting well and storm pumps
2 Psychrometrics and comfort
3 Refrigeration fundamentals
4 Building sciences
5 EPA Section 608 Certification update: R-22 phase-out
6 New joining processes for copper and copper alloys
7 Introducing the sheet metal trade into an educational program
8 Right-sizing hydronics
9 Digital electric motor theory
10 Computer technology
11 Teaching the fundamentals of electricity

In addition to these topics and a host of other cutting-edge technical sessions, the 2007 workshop will focus on enhancing classroom instructional techniques. Instructors will learn how to use slide presentations to maximize learning, design curriculum and instructional materials for adult learners, teach HVACR troubleshooting through simulation software, use technology for distance learning and employ techniques to improve student recruitment.

The workshop also provides the industry with the opportunity to demonstrate its support of instructors’ efforts to strengthen their programs. As of today, the following companies and organizations will be exhibiting during the event: ACCA, ARI, BPI, CARE, Carrier, Copper Development Association, Delta Faucet Company, Emerson Climate Technologies, Ferris State University, Fieldpiece, GAMA, GE/Regal Beloit, Hydro Delta, InSinkErator, Lennox, NATE, NIBCO INC.; Pennsylvania College of Technology, PHCC, Prentice Hall, Rheem, RSES, Thomson Delmar Learning, and TRANE.

The HVACR & Plumbing Instructor Workshop is recommended for all plumbing and HVACR instructors, administrators and counselors in secondary programs, post-secondary programs and proprietary programs. In addition, plumbing and HVACR apprentice program instructors and administrators, as well as apprentice program advisory committee members are encouraged to attend.

The cost of registration including lodging is $166 plus tax per night for a single room. This fee includes all educational sessions, meals and refreshment breaks.
