The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC), St. Louis, Mo., has published Position Statement #31, “Acceptable Use of Calcium Chloride in Concrete”, the latest in a series of papers on key issues of interest to cast-in-place concrete contractors, architects and engineers.
This Position Statement explains that though many specifications prohibit its use, under certain conditions, the use of calcium chloride as an accelerating admixture can be acceptable, economical and beneficial to owners. It can be particularly useful when placing flatwork in cold weather.
Copies of all of the Position Statements may be ordered by calling toll free at 1-866-788-2722 or online at www.ascconline.org.
