ASCE's OPAL Gala Scheduled
February 21, 2007

In the past 24 hours have you: woken up to the sound of an
alarm clock, had a cup of coffee or commuted to and from an office? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you can thank a civil engineer for the energy, water, transportation/transit or other infrastructure systems that made them possible.

Each year the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) recognizes outstanding civil engineering projects that have made a contribution to society, new applications of innovative technology and the exceptional leadership of the individuals who make it all possible, with its Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Lifetime Achievement Awards and Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Award, as well as the Civil Engineering Forum for Innovation’s (CEFI) Charles J. Pankow Award for Innovation and Henry L. Michel Award for Industry Advancement of Research.

The 2007 OPAL Lifetime Achievement, OCEA, Pankow and Michel awards will be presented at ASCE’s annual OPAL Gala on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at 6 p.m. in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. Registration for the event is now open, and additional information can be found at:
