ASSE Hosts Webinars
July 18, 2008

In an effort to provide real-time educational tools for safety professionals, the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) will be host to two upcoming webinars. Upcoming webinars include, “Using Tabletop Exercises to Improve Your Organization’s Emergency Response Preparedness”, scheduled for Wednesday, July 30th, 2008; and “Virtual Tabletop Exercises – Emergency Response Scenarios”, to be held Wednesday, August 6th, 2008. All webinars will take place from 11:00 AM — 12:30 PM CST.

The July 30th webinar will focus on tabletop exercises (TTX), which are powerful and cost-effective ways to immerse employers and employees into various workplace situations. During this webinar, Larry Holloway, president and founder of LGH Safety Services, LLC, a consulting company specializing in exercise design development for industries and school systems, will introduce the TTX concept and take participants through the steps in designing an effective tabletop exercise. Mr. Holloway will also guide the participants through a sample “virtual” tabletop exercise. The webinar will teach participants how to select an exercise design team, create an orientation seminar and scenarios for a table top exercise, develop a list of significant TTX learning outcomes, and examine how to implement the outcomes and use audit protocols to assess compliance.

Mr. Holloway will also present the August 6th TTX webinar and will demonstrate a tabletop exercise that places the participants into an emergency response scenario. These mini-scenarios will be tied around a common story and will be applicable to many typical work environments. The objective of this webinar will be to examine the dynamics behind a tabletop exercise, explore a workplace emergency and discover how to conduct an effective tabletop exercise

Webinars, or virtual classrooms, feature many tools including an interactive question and answer component; interactive polling for real-time feedback; and document downloads.
