ASSE To Host Technical Webinars For 2011 Key Topics
June 14, 2011

With new technology and advances in real-time educational tools available for safety, health and environmental (SH&E) professionals, ASSE continues to provide innovative ways to earn continuing education units and engage members. The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) will host several technical webinars on a variety of different SH&E topics.

July 2011 webinars include a 90-minute, July 14th, session titled, “Occupational Risk Assessment Strategies.” This webinar will focus on the background for and methodology of occupational risk assessments. In addition, the seminar will present concepts for risk management and risk minimization, along with how to apply leading metrics to the overall risk management process. The featured speaker for this presentation will be Paul Esposito from ESIS.
A webinar titled, “Managing Your Ergonomics Program: Best Practices that Make it All Work,” will be held on July 20th and will focus on key elements of world class ergonomics programs and the activities and steps businesses need to take to manage and sustain their own successful programs. Featured speakers include Walt Rostykus, Vice President and Management Consultant for Humantech, and Winnie Ip, Director of Consulting and Ergonomics for Humantech. Rostykus has more than 30 years of experience delivering and managing ergonomic, occupational safety, industrial hygiene and environmental programs and Ip has considerable experience building ergonomics awareness training programs and conducts process reviews of ergonomics and health and safety programs.

An August 10th webinar titled, “Conducting Health and Safety Audits that Protect Employees and Business” will feature speaker David C. Regelbrugge, CSP, CIH of Environ and will focus on types of safety and health audits, the tools available, and procedures to conduct a comprehensive audit. The session will provide valuable insight into the audit process and will provide tips for follow-up action.

On November 9th, ASSE will offer a webinar titled, “A Framework of OSHA’s Proposed Injury and Illness Prevention Program (I2P2): Learning from Cal OSHA’s Experience.” This session will examine the California injury and illness prevention program standard, whether or not it is a good model for a federal standard and will outline the steps OSHA must take to withstand a legal challenge to the federal standard. Featured speaker Michael T. Taylor has participated in hundreds of OSHA inspections, represents employers and trade associations during federal and state OSHA enforcement litigations and has helped defend employers on a broad range of issues including alleged violations of key standards.

ASSE’s webcasts are an excellent way for SH&E professionals to engage in continuing education via an interactive, online course. New webinars will be announced throughout the year as they are developed. If you miss an ASSE webinar of interest, you can go to ASSE’s webinar archive to download these sessions at your convenience.
