Augusta Health Announces $22 Million Expansion
May 2, 2017

Augusta Health, a 23-year-old community hospital located in Fishersville, Va., has announced plans for a $22 million expansion and renovation of the hospital’s emergency department. The hospital’s Board of Directors has approved approximately $20 million for the expansion. In addition, the Augusta Health Foundation’s Board of Directors has authorized a $2 million capital campaign.

The need is acute, said Augusta Health President and CEO Mary Mannix, as the hospital is not only seeing more patients, but patients of “higher acuity with trauma, strokes and heart attacks.”

According to the announcement, the plans call for a 33,000-square-foot, two-story addition, along with the renovation of the existing 17,500 square feet. The addition will include 16,288 square feet of “shelled space” for future use. The project is anticipated to be completed during 2019.
