Canoe Competition Announces Judges
April 23, 2007

For the past 20 years, hundreds of students from across the
country have gathered each June to test their well-honed engineering skills and rock solid determination in the seemingly impossible task of making a concrete boat float. Each summer a group of five leading industry professionals is tasked with an equally daunting job—determining which team will take home the “America’s Cup of Civil Engineering.”

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Admixture Systems business of BASF Construction Chemicals (formerly Master Builders, Inc.) –recently announced the individuals chosen to serve as judges for the 2007 National Concrete Canoe Competition.

The event, which challenges civil engineering students to design, build and race canoes constructed of concrete, will take place June 14-16, 2007, in Seattle, and will be hosted by the University of Washington.
