International Code Council CEO Rick Weiland recently announced the selection of the nonprofit Federal Alliance for Safe Homes– FLASH®, Inc., to operate its Foundation programs while the two organizations evaluate a potential strategic alliance and/or merger. The move aligns two nonprofits that share a similar mission to support strong, sustainable and disaster-resistant building practices.
Current ICCF programs include Project H.E.R.O. (Homes Eliminated of Restrictions and Obstacles), a volunteer-based program to help disabled American veterans by making their home’s accessible. The Foundation annually sponsors Building Safety Week to increase awareness of making homes and buildings safe places where people can live, work and play.
