Dewberry, a nationally recognized consulting firm based in Fairfax, Virginia, has been awarded the Special Achievement in GIS, or SAG, award from ESRI, a leading GIS and mapping software developer. Dewberry was selected to receive the SAG award from over 100,000 ESRI user sites worldwide.
Tim McCormick, PE, CFM, Dewberry’s senior vice president with the firm’s hazard engineering services group accepted the award from ESRI President Jack Dangermond. Dewberry was recognized because of its technological contribution to floodplain mapping–GeoFIRM. Dewberry built GeoFIRM around ESRI’s ArcGIS software. The geodatabase allows Dewberry specialists to automate the digital flood insurance rate map process, thereby increasing accuracy and speed.
