June 8, 2017

The Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Federal Register notice seeking comments and information to assist in identifying existing regulations, paperwork requirements, and other regulatory obligations that could be modified or repealed, consistent with law, to achieve meaningful burden reduction while continuing to fulfill the Department’s statutory obligations. This notice was issued in response to the Executive Order 13771, “Reducing Regulation and Controlling Regulatory Costs,” issued by the President on January 30, 2017.

Interested persons are encouraged to submit comments, identified by ‘‘Regulatory Burden Reduction RFI,’’ by any of the following methods:
Federal eRulemaking Portal. Follow the instructions for submitting comments.
Email. Include ‘‘Regulatory Burden RFI’’ in the subject line of the message.
Mail:
U.S. Department of Energy,
Office of the General Counsel, 1000
Independence Avenue SW., Room
6A245, Washington, DC 20585.
Written comments and information will be accepted until July 14, 2017. Instructions for submitting comments are included in the notice.

The notice also explains that DOE has established an email inbox at Regulatory.Review@hq.doe.gov which can be used on a continuing basis to identify existing regulations, paperwork requirements, and other regulatory obligations that could be modified or repealed, consistent with law.
