Draper Aden Associates Make Presentation
March 25, 2008

A case study of a small community located in western Virginia was highlighted by Draper Aden Associates at the annual Virginia Rural Water Association Annual Conference held in Williamsburg, VA. Lori Kroll, Community Resource Specialist and Jim O’Dowd, PE, Utilities Program Manager presented Demystifying Industry Buzzwords for Rural Virginia, The Implementation of an Asset Management Plan and Use of Hydraulic Modeling.

This presentation was a case study of a small community located in western Virginia dealing with the challenges of economic depression, aging and diminishing populations, and limited financial and staff resources. These communities face further issues related to a lack of public understanding of the complexity of providing vital community water services and the precarious nature of their local infrastructure.

Mr. O’Dowd is the Utilities Program Manager in Draper Aden Associates’ Blacksburg office. He has an extensive background in water utilities engineering, infrastructure rehabilitation and hydraulic water modeling.

Ms. Kroll is a Community Resource Specialist for Draper Aden Associates whose primary focus is to assist local and regional governments with project funding needs, as well as the coordination, administration, and documentation requirements of state and federal funding agencies through their various grant and loan programs.
