ECS Celebrates 20th Anniversary
February 20, 2008

On Feb. 15, 1988, Henry L. Lucas, P.E., and Jim W. Eckert, Sr. P.E., opened Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) in a construction trailer behind a flex office building in Chantilly, Virginia. Twenty years later, the company has now grown from a group of twelve people to over 1200 employees, which include 36 offices along the Eastern seaboard, Illinois, and the Midwest.

Mr. Lucas attributes ECS’ success, “due to the old cliché’… great people. Without great people, no service firm can be successful or even survive.” He added, “Our commitment to technical excellence focuses on saving our clients money in order to create the best value for the services that we provide.”

This commitment to excellence and staffing offices with top industry professionals has proven successful for ECS, ranked as the 96th largest engineering firm in the United States for 2007 by ENR Magazine.

ECS is a diverse consulting firm specializing in the related fields of geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials engineering. They employ registered professional engineers and geologists, certified laboratory technicians, construction inspectors, field engineers, computer specialists and support personnel.
