Grants Available For New FIRST® Tech Challenge Teams
June 20, 2018

FIRST®, the world’s leading child-serving nonprofit advancing science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), has announced that funding up to $500 is now available for new First® Tech Challenge teams. FIRST programs inspire innovation and leadership through engaging, hands-on robotics challenges developed to ignite curiosity and passion in students in grades K-12.

In FIRST® Tech Challenge, teams of up to 15 students (grades 7-12) explore the possibilities of STEM through designing, building, programming, and operating robots to play a floor game in an alliance format. They practice engineering principles while realizing the value of teamwork, innovation, and sharing ideas, and participants are eligible to apply for $80 million+ in college scholarships.

Through generous donations, need-based grants are now available making it possible for rookie (new) FIRST Tech Challenge teams to apply for a $275 registration grant, and another $225 to help pay for materials, totaling $500 in funding. These grants are intended to create opportunities for deserving students to expand their horizons and reap the benefits offered by participation in FIRST programs. Those interested in forming new teams are encouraged to visit the Tech Challenge webpage for registration and application information.
