Green Building Leadership Awards Announced

The James River Green Building Council (JRGBC), one of four Virginia chapters of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), has announced the winners of the Council’s Sixth Annual Green Building Leadership Awards. Awards were given in several categories including non-profit, government, private sector, and individual. This year an additional category, new construction, was added. Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity was named the winner in the non-profit category. The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation was named the winner in the government category. 2rw Consultants Inc. was named the winner in the private sector category. Karl Bren, president of GreenVision Consulting, was named the winner in the individual category.

The Council also announced the 2010 winning projects which included: The Inger and Walter Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Va.; the Richmond, Va. headquarters building of Moseley Architects for adaptive re-use; and the Manassas Park Elementary School and Pre-Kindergarten in Manassas Park, Va. for the juror’s favorite.
