Henry County Manufacturing Plant Announces Expansion
April 28, 2017

Applied Felts, a subsidiary of the W.E. Rawson Group, has announced an upcoming $3 million expansion at its Henry County manufacturing plant. The planned expansion will add 21,000 square feet and two new lines of equipment to the existing facility located in the North Bowles Industrial Park.

With a current workforce of 135 people, Applied Felts manufactures liners, primarily for installation in sewer pipes, using cured in place pipe (CIPP) technology. Created to enhance performance and easily replace worn or damaged in-situ sewer lines, CIPP technology involves felt liners being injected with resin and cured inside existing pipe.

According to the company’s financial controller, Carl Fleming, the expansion is anticipated to facilitate the development of new markets as well as meet an ever-growing demand for pipe liners. Mr. Fleming noted that completion of the construction project is expected later this spring with one line becoming operational. The second line is expected to be fully operational by Fall 2017.

The Henry County Enterprise Zone Fund will provide $52,897 over five years and the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission will provide $35,000 to facilitate completion of the project.
