Henry County Wins Selection For New Manufacturing Facility

According to Mark Heath, president and CEO of Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corp., Sweden-based Starsprings, a privately held spring and spring unit manufacturer, will open its first U.S. manufacturing operation in Henry County.

Starsprings, founded in 1918, is based in Herrljunga, Sweden. According to press information, the firm will invest $3.7 million in establishing the facility where it will make mattress units used in the cabs of trucks making long-distance hauls. Starsprings has announced that its goal is to have the site operational by the fall of 2016.

Virginia’s incentive package included a $100,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund and $220,000 from the Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission. Additionally, Starsprings will receive benefits from the Port of Virginia Economic and Infrastructure Development Zone Grant Program.
