The ISA92 committee, Performance Requirements for Industrial Air Measurement Instrumentation Related to Health and Safety, has submitted three documents to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for reaffirmation as American National Standards.
The first of the three documents, ISA-92.02.01, Part I, Performance Requirements for Carbon Monoxide Detection Instruments (50-1000 ppm Full Scale), covers the details of construction, performance, and testing of portable, mobile, and stationary electrical instruments.
The second document, ISA-92.04.01, Part I, Performance Requirements for Instruments Used To Detect Oxygen-Deficient/Oxygen-Enriched Atmospheres, addresses similar details for electrical instruments used to provide a
warning of the presence of oxygen-deficient or oxygen-enriched
atmospheres.
The final document submitted to ANSI is ISA-TR92.06.03, Feasibility of Chlorine Detection Instrument Testing. Because of the toxicity and high chemical reactivity of chlorine, adherence to the workplace exposure limit is a high priority. This technical report supports the ISA performance standard for chlorine gas detection instruments and addresses performance testing accuracy and precision.
