Leipertz Construction Awarded Fire Station Contract

Leipertz Construction Inc., a Midlothian, Virginia-based contracting company, has been awarded a $2.7 million contract by the Henrico County of Board of Supervisors for the construction of a new fire station in eastern Henrico County. Funded with general obligation bonds approved in a 2005 referendum, the 10,625 square foot facility will be located at 1310 E. Washington Street and will replace the existing Fire Station 3 located at 908 E. Nine Mile Road. Fire Station 3 will remain in operation until construction is completed at the new facility.
The contract includes the construction of a three-bay, drive-through fire station as well as related off-site drainage improvements. With construction anticipated to be completed by May 2012, the new fire station is designed to achieve a LEED silver certification for energy efficiency.
