Microsoft Hohm Software Meets Ford Automobiles
April 22, 2010

As a prelude to the recent New York International Auto Show, software giant Microsoft and Ford Motor Company announced that the Detroit automaker will integrate Microsoft Hohm, a software platform that allows users to monitor their home energy use, in their new hybrids to make electrical vehicles more efficient. Specifically, Ford drivers will be able to use the cloud-based management tool to determine how, when and where to plug in their electric vehicles, such as during off-peak hours. According to Ford CEO Alan Mulally, the automaker has plans to offer five new hybrid vehicles by 2012.
