More Fort Lee BRAC Projects
May 6, 2009

More Fort Lee BRAC projects ready for occupancy.

According to information available from the US Army Corps of EngineersĀ® Norfolk District, they turned over the keys to the new Tactical Support Equipment Department (TSED) Training Facility April 24th, a day ahead of scheduled completion. The more than $49 million, 260,500 square-foot facility provides training labs and classrooms to instruct Soldiers in setting up, maintaining and repairing tactical equipment they will use in the field. TSED also includes administrative spaces for use by facility instructors and commanders.

In addition to the TSED handover, two buildings associated with the Army Logistics University (LOGU) were turned over for installation use April 22nd. The simulation and education buildings are part of the overall 45-acre campus that will centrally link tomorrow’s logisticians with today’s Soldiers through a specialized satellite array. The Army Logistics University is set for completion May 12th, with a ribbon cutting ceremony in early July.

LOGU and TSED mark the third and fourth 2005 Base Realignment and Closure projects completed on time and within budget at Fort Lee, which is no small feat, said Bill Robson, Norfolk District BRAC area engineer. Overall, Norfolk District is managing more than $1 billion of 2005 BRAC construction work at Fort Lee, with the final project set for completion in 2011.
