According to information made available from Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Navy Secretary Ray Mabus presented Naval Facilities Engineering Command — Marianas (NAVFAC Marianas) and NAVFAC Headquarters with Department of the Navy (DoN) Acquisition Excellence awards at the Pentagon recently for improving Department of Defense acquisition processes.

The DoN Acquisition Excellence awards are presented annually to teams and individuals that exemplify the Navy’s five principles of improving acquisition processes, which are clearly identifying requirements, raising the bar on performance, rebuilding the acquisition workforce, supporting the industrial base and “making every dollar count.”

NAVFAC Marianas received a Field Acquisition Activity award for its work in preparing for the future relocation of 17,000 Marines and family members from Okinawa to Guam. NAVFAC Headquarters received a Major Acquisition Activity award for its critical role in military construction, environmental restoration, base realignment and closure, Navy housing, contingency engineering, Seabee readiness, base operations support, energy and utility rate intervention worldwide.
