The Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released the latest findings from its building and fire safety investigation into the World Trade Center (WTC) disaster of September 11, 2001. These include the leading collapse sequence for each of the two World Trade Center towers; details from the analysis of first-person interviews of nearly 1,200 WTC occupants, first responders and families of victims; and new information gleaned from the analysis of emergency response and evacuation procedures/actions.
