Partnership To Create Database For Post-Disaster Response
March 20, 2018

The International Code Council and the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) are joining forces to create a single national database of volunteers willing to assist jurisdictions with building damage assessments and inspections in the aftermath of a disaster. This interactive online database combines information from the Code Council’s Disaster Response Network and NCSEA’s Second Responder Roster. The two organizations created a disaster response oversight committee consisting of members, staff and Board members to finalize the details for the joint website and volunteer database.

“We are excited to be working with NCSEA on this project,” said Greg Wheeler, CBO, Chief Building Official for Thornton, Colo., Secretary/Treasurer of the Code Council Board of Directors, Chair of the ICC Disaster Assessment Ad-hoc Committee and a member of the ICC-NCSEA Disaster Response Oversight Committee. “After a devastating hurricane season and widespread wildfires in California, a national database of building safety professionals is even more crucial to helping communities recover quickly from disasters.”
