Public Comment Sought For AHRI Standard 210/240
June 23, 2020

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) has announced that the AHRI Standard 210/240 (2023), Performance Rating of Unitary Air Conditioning & Air-Source Heat Pump Equipment, has been submitted to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for public review. The public review will take place from June 26 to August 10, 2020.

This standard applies to factory-made unitary air conditioners and unitary air-source heat pumps with capacities less than 65,000 Btu/h, as defined in Section 3 of the standard, and supersedes AHRI Standard 210/240-2017 with Addendum 1. AHRI 210/240-2023, first published in May 2020, establishes a method to rate residential central air conditioners and heat pumps consistent with the test procedure codified in 10 CFR part 430, subpart B, appendix M1. The energy efficiency metrics, expressed in terms of Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER2), Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER2), and Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF2), are required for representations corresponding to the compliance date of new efficiency standards in the United States beginning January 1, 2023.

Stakeholders and other interested parties interested in participating in the review are encouraged to download the document and submit relevant comments.
