Refinery Project Planned for Pittsylvania County
March 24, 2011

Piedmont BioProducts has announced plans to build a refinery that would convert a diverse variety of organic materials and timber byproducts into oil. The new refinery will be located in Pittsylvania County, Va. and initially would produce approximately 6,000 gallons of oil per day, according to Piedmont BioProducts CEO Ken Moss. Mr. Moss says the company hopes to begin construction in 2012 and begin production in late 2012 or early 2013. Funding from private sector sources and the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission will help finance the project, Mr. Moss noted.
