Solar Energy Opportunity For Non-Profit Organizations
April 10, 2018

The “RVA Solar Fund” is administered by The Community Foundation (“TCF”). The Fund is an initiative to support public entities going solar represents a pioneering partnership between TCF donors, local and national nonprofits, and a Virginia-based, Certified B Corp solar developer and launched last year with grant opportunities for municipalities and public schools to help establish solar power infrastructure. The Fund has decided to expand its grant incentive program to nonprofit organizations in the Greater Richmond area. This is an opportunity for area nonprofits to obtain solar arrays for their sites that will provide clean energy and cost savings – and to compete for grant funds to support educational initiatives, other clean energy investments, or administrative costs associated with ‘going solar’.

If your organization owns its building (or a group of buildings) with total roof space of at least 10,000 square feet, and pays at least $15,000 in electricity costs per year, you may be eligible for a RVA Solar Fund power purchase agreement and incentive grant. TCF is scheduling an information session on Tuesday, April 10th at 8:30 a.m. at the Community foundation office (7501 Boulder View Drive, Suite 110) to provide additional information about this opportunity. Additional grant details and upcoming filing deadlines are available on the RVA Solar Fund site.
