Spectrm Design Announces High School Renovation Plans

As construction begins on Northside High School, a 40-year-old school in Roanoke County, Virginia, architecture and engineering firm Spectrum Design announces its plans for the renovation and

According to lead architect David Bandy, the firm helped Roanoke County school officials expand the 124,000-square-foot-school by 18,500 square feet, adding classrooms and science labs, administrative offices, conference rooms, career and media centers, and an outdoor dining courtyard.

Once the renovation is complete (projected for December 2008), the school’s more than 1,200 students and faculty and staff will enter the school through a two-story atrium.

The construction, which totals $28.3 million, will be completed in phases to minimize disruptions for the school. Spectrum Design previously provided engineering services for Northside Middle School’s new gymnasium.
