SPIE Optics + Photonics 2008
July 10, 2008

New sustainable-energy applications, revolutions in technology prompted by new discoveries in nanoscience, and the latest developments in photonics devices and optoelectronics will draw 8,000 researchers and innovators from around the world to the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) Optics + Photonics at the San Diego Convention Center from August 10-14, 2008. Event sponsor SPIE is an international optics and photonics society advancing an interdisciplinary approach to the science and application of light.

Solar energy technologies and applications are the focus of one of four symposia, and highlighted in an all-conference plenary presentation by Richard King, director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon. Three other symposia are organized on nanoscience and engineering, photonic devices, and optical engineering.

More than 2,800 papers will be presented in 72 conferences, including conferences on 11 topics new to the event. Papers will be published online in the SPIE Digital Library beginning immediately as approved after the meeting. For more information on the SPIE Digital Library, visit
