Tencarva Machinery Company Sells Compressor Distribution Business
June 8, 2011

Tencarva Machinery Company, headquartered in Greensboro, N.C., recently announced the sale, effective May 31, 2011, of its compressor distribution business to Atlas Copco Co., a global industrial group, according to Rod Lee, Tencarva president.

Tencarva Machinery Company has been representing the Atlas Copco lines in all of Maryland, Tennessee and Virginia; northern Mississippi; and northeastern North Carolina. Tencarva has been an Atlas Copco distributor for over 32 years. With this agreement, 37 of Tencarva’s employees will be offered similar positions with Atlas Copco and incorporated into the East Region of Atlas Copco Compressors. These employees include Tencarva’s entire Baltimore office team, salespeople dedicated to selling compressor-related products only and the entire compressor service organization.

Ed Pearce, secretary/treasurer of Tencarva Machinery Company, explains, “As part of the purchase, Atlas Copco and Tencarva have entered into an agreement which allows Atlas Copco to use the Tencarva facilities for a period of six to twelve months. This will allow Atlas Copco to immediately begin serving the customer base while allowing time to build an infrastructure within the former Tencarva territory.”

As a result of this agreement, Tencarva will no longer have a physical location in Maryland, and Tencarva customers of the Baltimore Branch Office will have their requirements for available pump products and services through Tencarva provided through the Virginia offices, primarily in Chesapeake and Richmond, Virginia.
