The Louis Berger Group, Inc. (BERGER), one of the world leaders in engineering, environmental science and economic development operations assists students reach their educational career goals. BERGER’s ongoing community outreach program continues by happily participating in the Engineering Shadowing Project with Henrico County Public Schools- Highland Springs Technical Center (HSTC). This program places HSTC students in engineering work environments to shadow engineering professionals. HSTC should be applauded for promoting real world experiences for their students.
Katherine Atkinson and Meredith Sappington, students at HSTC shadowed BERGER engineers in Richmond, VA. The students observed the engineers perform their daily job activities, and the experience gave the students an idea of the technology, professional training, work environment, and occupational skills involved in engineering. The students asked questions, participated in job activities, and explored BERGER engineering projects. Job shadowing helped these students connect what they have learned in the classroom to the real world.
