Tom Vander Ark Joins TechEd 2008
February 22, 2008

The Community College Foundation, producers of the TechEd 2008 conference, announced the addition of Tom Vander Ark as Opening Keynote to their 13th Annual Technology in Education Conference & Exposition coming to Ontario Convention Center in Southern California April 13 – 16, 2008.

Mr. Vander Ark spent seven years with the Gates Foundation before joining the X Prize Foundation in 2007. As the director of educational programs he developed the standards and programs for billions of dollars of educational giving to schools across the US and around the world. A prolific writer and speaker, Newsweek readers voted Mr. Vander Ark the most influential baby boomer in education in December 2006.

The X Prize Foundation, where Vander Ark serves as President, has a mission “to bring about radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity.” To that extent they seem to be having success with their first program, promoting private space flight, having been fully embraced by Virgin Airways and the first Virgin Galactic trips to start soon.

The foundation achieves it’s mission by offering incredible prizes to the first group that meets the strict requirements of it’s challenges.
