Updated Manuals Aid Civil and Structural Engineers
December 7, 2006

Revised and expanded to reflect the latest design methods contained in the 2006 International Building Code (IBC) and ASCE/SEI 7-05, the Structural/Seismic Design Manuals are important resources for civil and structural engineers. Developed by the International Code Council and the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC), the three-volume manuals incorporate requirements defined by the 2006 IBC.

The manuals provide numerous design examples illustrating the practical application of problems addressing a range of both structural and seismic issues. Volume 1: Code Application Examples includes 57 specific examples representing a wide variety of common code applications. Volume 2: Building Design Examples for Light-frame, Tilt-up, and Masonry addresses wood light-frame, cold-formed steel light-frame, masonry shear wall and tilt-up buildings. A wind design example also is included. Volume 3: Building Design Examples for Steel and Concrete addresses steel braced frame, buckling restrained braced frame, steel moment frame, steel plate shear wall, reinforced concrete shear wall with coupling beams and reinforced concrete moment-resisting frame buildings.

To purchase the 2006 IBC Structural/Seismic Design Manuals, visit the ICC Store at, or call 1-800-786-4452. Price: $53.50 (ICC members), $67 (nonmembers). Volumes 1 and 2 are currently available, while Volume 3 is in production and can be backordered for shipment in early 2007. The manuals also can be ordered as a set for $136 (ICC members), $171 (nonmembers) and will ship in early 2007.
