The University of Maryland (UM) will be a major sponsor this October of the first USA Science & Engineering Festival – which runs October 10th-24th throughout the Washington, D.C. region. The Festival includes a two-day Expo on the National Mall October 23rd and 24th. The university’s involvement underscores its desire to push forward efforts to impact the number of students choosing science and technology careers.
The university will join with many other regional (and national) institutions of higher education taking part in this first annual event. Maryland will be an integral part of the “Nifty Fifty” program sending top faculty out to talk with students in the Washington, D.C. region. Two UM Nobel Laureates will also be part of the “Lunch with a Laureate” program for students.
