Virginia Ranks As 7th Most Innovative State

With the U.S. projected to spend $581 billion on research and development in 2019, the financial website WalletHub has announced the release of its report on 2019’s Most & Least Innovative States as well as an accompanying video.

In order to give credit to the states that have contributed the most to America’s innovative success, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 24 key metrics. The data set ranges from share of STEM professionals to R&D spending per capita.

Innovation in Virginia (1=Most Innovative, 25=Avg.):

5th – Share of STEM Professionals 1st – Projected STEM-Job Demand by 2020 10th – Eighth-Grade Math & Science Performance 8th – Share of Science & Engineering Graduates Aged 25+ 2nd – Share of Technology Companies 20th – R&D Spending per Capita 10th – Venture-Capital Funding per Capita
