The new Dixie Area Detention Facility in Hurricane, Utah was recently dedicated. The Utah Department of Human Services Division of Youth Corrections commissioned JRCA Architects, a Salt Lake City design firm, which partnered with Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern, Inc. (HSMM), a Virginia-based architectural and engineering firm, and Layton Construction, a commercial and industrial construction firm in Sandy, Utah, to design the new $6.5 million, 64-bed juvenile center.
JRCA, HSMM, and Layton Construction have partnered for more than 10 years on a variety of projects. According to Joe Jenkins, former Director of the Division of Facilities and Construction Management, “The design-build team was awarded the contract based on its unique design.”
