The City of Virginia Beach is recruiting for an Engineer III, position #6826, for the Facilities Design and Construction Division in the Engineering Group of the Public Works Department. The Division consists of this position and four engineers and/or architects reporting directly to the Division head.
Individual will perform a variety of engineering or architectural duties of a complex nature which includes project management for the construction, repair, and maintenance of City buildings, administration of design and construction contracts, designing and reviewing plans and specifications for building projects, and technical support for the operation and maintenance of City buildings. Complex engineering or architectural work will entail a considerable amount of independent actions or decisions on designs, project management and operations, and/or project tasks which demands application of advanced engineering disciplines or architectural principles. Will be responsible for the management of complex building projects. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved engineering, or engineering technology program with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license) from the Virginia Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA) and five years of progressive engineering; OR an Associate’s Degree in Engineering with seven years of progressive professional experience and possession of a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license from the Virginia Board of Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA).
