Engineer - Mechanical Odec
Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC), a wholesale power supplier to 11 locally owned and controlled electric distribution cooperatives, is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill an open position as a Mechanical Engineer.
Position requires a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) and a valid driver’s license. Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering with one year of project management or project engineering; 1 year in power generation preferred. Working knowledge of mechanical standards, codes and industry practices, power plant drawings, drafting applications, and engineering and construction methods.
The successful candidate will: – Support combustion turbine and diesel power plant operations and other internal departments; – Determine potential capital improvement and maintenance projects by working with engineering consultants; – Provide conceptual and detailed engineering from scope of work and scheduling to making final contractor recommendations; – Oversee on-site field work by comparing scope of work and design drawings to actual work being conducted; – Resolve issues that have technical, budget or schedule implications; and – Conduct final inspections and follow through on completion of outstanding items to receipt of turnover package.
