Information Systems Network Engineer
Goochland County, Virginia is accepting applications for the position of Network Engineer. This is a full time position with benefits. This position is responsible for the County’s network operations including the Local (LAN) and Wide Area (WAN) networks and telecommunications infrastructure. Primary duties will include developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, load balancing, and optimizing all new and existing data, software, and communications links. Also provides design, implementation, install configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN networks (Cisco), wireless networks, security systems (firewalls, remote access) and campus cabling in a secure environment 24/7 for the County Enterprise.
This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of IP networking including routing, switching, load balancing, traffic optimization, performance monitoring, Cisco ISO, BGP, EIGRP, TEC/IP, SNMP, spanning-tree, VPN, VLAN trunking, IP Subnetting and MLPPP. A general knowledge and understanding of QoS, IPSec tunnels, VRF’s Firewalls, Blade Enclosure Networking, Cisco WAAS, Cisco ACE, telephony including PBX and VoIP would be needed. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment are required. Qualifications include an combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering and three years of professional experience. The anticipated hiring range for the position is $65,000, based on qualifications and experience.
