Regional Operations Project Engineer
 

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is looking for an experienced professional engineer to work within the scenic and historic Central Piedmont and Shenandoah Valley of Virginia to deliver Operations improvement projects. This region of Virginia offers both urban and rural transportation challenges. Qualified candidate would be a responsible charge engineer to lead, direct and coordinate the development and delivery of transportation operations projects for the Northwest Region. The Northwest Region provides operations support services in VDOT’s Staunton and Culpeper Districts. The successful candidate will be responsible for operations project needs identification, prioritization, planning, programming, design and construction (i.e. traffic signals, lighting, ITS, signs, guardrail projects); works with Central Office divisions to support effective development of statewide projects and initiatives. Serve as resource, support and liaison to other organizational units as it relates to operations projects and solving construction phase operational issues. Responsible for development, advertisement and administration of operations contracts to include providing resource oversight regarding workload, manpower, contract and consultant requirements for projects. Develop and manage project performance metrics.
