Residency Administrator
 

The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Richmond District is seeking a multi-talented individual to serve as the Residency Administrator for the Petersburg Residency serving the following counties: (Dinwiddie, Prince George and Nottoway). This position, #00119, will serve as focal point for all VDOT services in assigned residency and be the primary contact for local government & their liaison w/ VDOT functions as those functions impact the local geographic region of the residency. You will communicate w/ legislators, citizens, government/VDOT officials, media & employees to provide appropriate & authoritative info about business plans & actions; participate in or conduct meetings with various public agencies & citizen groups; participate in ad hoc committees/groups in order to represent & achieve the district’s business needs & interests; attend public forums; investigate/respond to concerns of a wide range of VDOT internal/external customers; & assist in leading/managing the residency team to deliver programs/services. You will develop Six Year Plan (SYP) priorities & program strategies & work w/ District staff to develop the program; work w/ District engineering, construction, traffic engineering staff, etc. to provide local context & direction regarding project delivery & to receive briefings on project scope & status; facilitate discussions on sensitive land development issues between local/private/technical staff; review development plans to ensure the designs meet local government needs; take an active role in scoping of projects to ensure local government desires are considered in the project development; & administer maintenance budgets/projects & expend funds appropriately. The incumbent will identify trends & project future needs to promote planning, allocation of resources & delivery of services through evaluation, analysis & strategic planning processes; appropriately utilize MEL to ensure & reflect the most effective mgt of budgets & resources; manage residency to ensure a safe/healthy work environment; manage fiscal, inventory & budget programs; develop sound & thorough budget requests & ensure expenditures do not exceed allocations; provide strong leadership to Residency safety program; assure all employees are properly trained & certified to carry out emergency response duties; conduct all emergency operations in compliance w/ FEMA & FHWA regulations & carry out emergency duties & perform additional engineering responsibilities as assigned. Additional positions may be filled from this recruitment pool for the South Hill, Ashland, & Chesterfield Residencies.
