Wiley & Wilson, Inc. is pleased to make the following announcements about their professional staff:
David E. Clatworthy, P.E. has joined the firm as a Civil Engineer. In his new position, Mr. Clatworthy will be responsible for civil engineering design. He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa and is currently pursuing an M.S. degree in Environmental Planning and Management through Johns Hopkins University.
T. Alan Payne, Jr., P.E., LEED® AP; Senior Mechanical Engineer, has earned a new certification. He is now certified by the United States Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP). As Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mr. Payne focuses primarily on the design of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and control systems for new buildings as well as renovations for federal, state, institutional and private sector clients. He holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University.
Wiley & Wilson, Inc. is pleased to announce that Annemarie G. Hovis has recently accepted a position at the firm as a Project Designer in the Architectural Department. In her new position, Ms. Hovis’ primary focus will be to provide design and construction documents for local and federal government clients in addition to those for institutional building projects. She will also assist with the selection of architectural finishes and furniture. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Dennis R. Altman and E. Ross Brockwell, engineers with the Virginia Beach structural engineering firm of Speight, Marshall & Francis, P.C., have obtained Professional Engineering licensure in Virginia. Mr. Altman earned his M.S. degree from Clemson University and his B.S. degree from Manhattan College. Mr. Brockwell earned his M.S. degree from California Institute of Technology and his B.S. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.
The firm also announced that Lloyd W. Bolick has joined their professional staff as a Structural Engineering Technician.

Thomas B. Pursel, P.E., was recently named a senior associate at Gannett Fleming. Based in the firm’s Fairfax, VA, office, Mr. Pursel is currently a project manager and regional construction management practice leader for the states of Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. With more than 14 years of professional engineering experience, he is responsible for planning and managing the design and construction of community water and wastewater facilities. Mr. Pursel holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University.

The Chantilly office of Patton Harris Rust & Associates is pleased to announce that Owen Yumang, P.E., and Ning Wang, P.E., have both recently received their Professional Engineer designation. Mr. Yumang, who is also a Designated Plans Examiner (DPE) in Fairfax County, obtained his designation in the District of Columbia. He is the recipient of two B.S. degrees from the University of the Philippines, one in Geology and the other in Civil Engineering. Mr. Wang, who holds a M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia, received his designation in the State of Ohio. He obtained his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Southeast University in Nanjing, P.R., China.
PHR+A is also pleased to announce that Paul D. Noursi, P.E., DPE, has been appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to serve on the Engineering Standards Review Committee. The appointment is for a period of three years. Mr. Noursi earned a B.S. degree in Physics from West Virginia Wesleyan College as well as another B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from West Virginia University. He later obtained his M.S. degree in Engineering Management from the University of Maryland. Mr. Noursi has been with PHR+A since 1989.

Daggett & Grigg Architects PC, recently announced the addition of a new principal, Clark Gathright, P.E., at the firm. Mr. Clark has been solely in charge of engineering services at Daggett & Grigg for over 5 years. His diverse work experience includes Capital Projects Manager for the City of Charlottesville and Facilities Management at The University of Virginia, as well as serving as a Civil Engineer at Earth Tech and Keeney Architects. He earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Virginia as well as a B.S. degree in Business Management from Virginia Tech.

Virginia A&E is pleased to announce that Danny Dinkins has recently accepted a position at the firm as Senior Designer. Mr. Dinkins is a graduate of Central Virginia Community College with a degree in Engineering Technology and has worked in the architectural and engineering industry for more than 12 years. Over the course of his business career, Mr. Dinkins has worked extensively on multi-discipline designs for commercial, institutional, and industrial clients. He is proficient in the use of both AutoCAD and MicroStation design software. In his new position, Mr. Dinkins will be responsible for the implementation of the firm’s drafting quality control program.

O’Brien and Gere is pleased to announce that G. Christian Guvernator IV, P.E. has recently joined the firm’s professional staff as Managing Engineer in the Virginia Beach office. Mr. Guvernator, most recently associated with the City of Norfolk Department of Utilities, brings more than 18 years of professional engineering experience, primarily in municipal water and wastewater planning, design and construction administration, to the firm. He holds an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from N.C. State University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Engineering Management at Old Dominion University.

William (Chuck) E. Henley, P.E. has recently joined Stantec Consulting Services Inc. as an Associate for the Transportation practice area. He has also been appointed to the role of Office Leader for the Richmond, VA, location and, in his new position, will focus on the Transportation Practice within Stantec’s Mid-Atlantic Region. Mr. Henley comes to Stantec most recently from the City of Richmond, VA, where he served as Deputy Director and Interim Director of Public Works for the past five years.

McKim & Creed announces the following professionals have recently joined the staff in the firm’s Virginia Beach office:
Kelly Curtis is the new administrative assistant. Prior to joining the firm, she worked with Mid Eastern Builders, Inc. in Chesapeake.
Jonathan Jarrett, E.I.T., has joined the firm’s engineering staff. He is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. Prior to joining the firm, he was associated with Pinnacle Group Engineering.

Draper Aden Associates is pleased to announce that Glenn Custis, P.E. has been appointed as Site Planning and Engineering Team Leader of the firm’s Charlottesville office. Mr. Custis has been a staff member for 11 years and has 35 years of overall land development engineering experience .
Draper Aden Associates is also pleased to announce that Michael A. Larson, P.E., has been appointed as Utilities Team Leader of the firm’s Charlottesville office. Mr. Larson has been a member of the firm for 8 years, serving as a Project Manager on the Utilities Team in the firm’s Richmond office. He is a graduate of Clarkson University with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and a M.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Virginia Tech.
Draper Aden Associates is also pleased to announce that Thomas S. Cox, P.E. has been appointed Office Manager of the firm’s Charlottesville office. Mr. Cox is a graduate of Virginia Tech with M.S. and B.S. degrees in Civil Engineering. He has been a member of the firm for over 16 years serving as a Project Manager on the Utilities Team in the firm’s Richmond office as well as the Utilities Team Leader in the firm’s Charlottesville office.

Synchris, Inc. announced recently that it now has in place vice presidents for both product marketing and product management to support its launch of the on-demand version of Privia® for the government contracting market. A veteran of the government contracting and e-commerce worlds, Annie Eissler is joining Synchris as vice president for product marketing. Also, new to the team is vice president for product management Scott Hiles, a leading information technologist who compiled a strong background in a wide range of 24/7 ASP operations at Sprint and FOLIOfn, an online brokerage service.
Ms. Eissler will be responsible for Synchris product marketing, e-commerce, and communications. She previously served as vice president for marketing and customer service at Communication Technologies, Inc. (COMTek). She earned a bachelors degree in political science with honors from the University of California at Los Angeles and a master’s degree in international relations from The American University.
Mr. Hiles will be responsible for Synchris product management. For nearly three years, he was vice president of development and technical operations at FOLIOfn. He holds a bachelors and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Tennessee Technological University and a masters of business degree from George Mason University.#

Mortimer Downey has received an Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC). The award was given in recognition of contributions thoughout his career in support of and advocacy for transportation education and research. Mr. Downey is chairman of PB Consult, a Parsons Brinckerhoff subsidiary that provides managment consulting servces to developers of infrastructure projects worldwide. Prior to joining PB in 2001, he served for eight years as U.S. deputy secretary of transportation.

Brad Carson, president of Power and Heat Systems, LLC, has recently announced the addition of Mike Stricklin to the firm’s professional staff. Mr. Stricklin has extensive experience in the oven and bakery industry handling project management and field commissioning of systems around the world. In his new position at Power and Heat Systems, he will be an inside sales person and project manager. According to Mr. Carson, “This addition to our company will allow us to become more proactive and aggressive in the market place.” ##
